It’s December, time to stress!! 😀 Isn’t that how we see it, or if we don’t, the drivers on the road do! The last time I wrote an article about self care, I had 10’s of thousands of viewers which leads me to believe, its a topic we are all interested in, especially over the holidays!

Enjoy my 5 Tips To Surviving The Holidays (In 45 minutes or less!) Remember to add your tips to relaxation in the comments below!
1. Choose your battles.
Do you really need to recreate grandma’s 9 layer trifle? (Think Rachel from “Friends” :D) Sometimes picking up certain foods from your favorite market or restaurant can be your key to calm that day. Choose a few items that you really love to cook or bake and stick with those. Let the chefs figure out the rest.
2. If you’re selling or gifting your ART this year, create something FUN that’s not a gift or product in between.
Paint for them, paint for you, paint for them, paint for you. Rinse and repeat! This way you’ll never forget WHY you started painting in the first place! Have some hot cocoa or tea next to you and a fun Netflix show or music playing and paint for you!! Because you deserve some love too! Enjoy some LUXE sparkle and go to town!

3. A habit that will hopefully stick year round.
Gratitude each morning. Before I jump to social media clicks and quick witted texting replies, I take a few moments to count my blessings in the morning. I always notice by the flow and ease of my day if I’ve remembered that simple habit. I discuss gratitude and my mindset in the (Level 1) LUXE Master Class. In that in depth, 26 lesson course, I teach my sneaky acrylic geode tricks AND self care because they go together like chocolate and caramel! 😀
4. Ask “How can I make this fun?“
This is a mindset shift that when used daily can make all the difference. Fun and stress don’t live in the same world. Choose fun. Find the humor in your holiday antics. Photograph the pumpkin in the blender explosion or your dog who unwrapped their doggie bone under the tree. It also makes for great stand up comedy material if you ever choose that career path. 😀
5. Jiggle what wiggles.
Exercise is vital to coping. Squeeze in 3- 4 days a week of exercise, particularly if it gets you sweating (I like to call it “glistening”). Mine as well get those free and natural endorphins working on your side this holiday season! I take pup “Chowder” for short jogs and get weekly massages to help with the angst. Find your path to some movement that works into your life!
Tip: If you love painting on LARGE canvases like I do, you’ll probably consider that exercise too! I know I sure “glisten” when I paint on huge canvases like I teach in the (Level 2) LUXE Master Class!
At the end of the day, when friends and family are in their holiday comas tucked away in your guest bedroom or on your comfy couch, what will they remember and what do you want them to remember? I want mine to remember a fun loving, engaging and present mom, friend and daughter.
